Caregiver Burnout and Anxiety Therapy

When you’ve been carrying too much for too long, therapy offers space to breathe, regulate, and find your way back to yourself again.

You’re Not Alone

Caregiver Burnout Therapy in IL

Caregiver Burnout looks a lot like depression and anxiety.

How can you tell if you are burnt out?

You might be feeling…

  • Emotionally and physically exhausted, even after rest

  • You are constantly caring for others, but rarely feel cared for yourself

  • You feel guilt when you slow down or try to rest

  • You are holding everything together, but barely keeping up internally

  • You feel unseen, even though so much depends on you

  • You’re functioning—but it feels like you’re running on empty

If this resonates, you are not alone in it—and you are not doing anything wrong .

Caregiver burnout is not a personal failure or lack of strength. It is depletion- physical and emotional. When long-term caregiving demands without relief or support you can experience:

  • emotional exhaustion

  • irritability or numbness

  • difficulty concentrating

  • loss of joy or connection

  • increased anxiety or shutdown

Therapy helps you pause, breathe and slow down so your system can begin to recover, not just push through.

Healing is possible. We offer a variety of holistic counseling services and immersive retreats to provide healing from anxiety, depression and trauma. Our trauma-informed counselors blends evidence-based care with innovative healing experiences, helping you move forward with hope again.

HOW THERAPY HELPS WITH CAREGIVER BURNOUT

In therapy, we will work together to:

  • Reconnect you with your own needs

  • Work through guilt and overwhelm

  • Support nervous system regulation so you can feel more like yourself

  • Identify where your energy is going—and where it needs protection

  • Create boundaries that work

  • Understand the emotional weight of long-term caregiving

  • Grieve losses

  • Reconnect and rebuild your sense of identity

This is not about doing more.

It’s about helping you regulate your nervous system to help you feel grounded and like yourself once again.

Hello, I am Debra Hirschberg, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of Hope Reins. I have the honor of coming alongside women and families for over 30 years. I believe in helping you rediscover your strengths and gifts to help you have hope again. Clients say that I blend warmth and humor with a non-judgmental approach. I believe in staying informed in the latest trauma informed approaches that integrate mind and body and I enjoy sharing how stress and emotions are held in both the mind and body. Having helped take care of my own mother during the last six months of her life, helps me deeply understand the blessings and challenges of caregiving. I don’t believe in one size fits all and instead will tailor an approach that will work for you— whether it is traditional therapy, brainspotting, art therapy or faith based approaches. Scroll down for further explanations of approaches.

I will only move at a pace that you are ok with. Instead of rushing into change, we focus on helping your nervous system feel safe enough to begin releasing what it has been carrying for too long. Caregiving often results in trauma and if needed, we will focus on how to heal the mind, body and soul from difficult memories and experiences.

For many clients, this work becomes a turning point—not because everything changes at once, but because they finally stop feeling like they have to hold it all alone

You don’t have to do this alone. I can help you find hope and healing.

Types of Counseling Services

Brainspotting Therapy

If you’ve been struggling with anxiety, depression, or past trauma, you may feel like talking about it isn’t enough. Maybe you’ve tried other therapy and it hasn’t worked. That’s because emotional pain isn’t just stored in your thoughts—.it’s also stored deep in your nervous system and body.

Brainspotting is a powerful therapy that accesses and releases stored trauma and emotional pain at a deeper level than traditional talk therapy. Using guided eye positioning, Brainspotting helps your brain process unresolved emotions, allowing you to:

  • Reduce anxiety, panic, and overthinking

  • Heal trauma at its core without having to "relive" painful memories

  • Release emotional pain that feels “stuck” in your body

  • Gain a sense of calm and clarity without forcing yourself to "think your way out of it"

Brainspotting is especially helpful if you’ve tried other therapies before and still feel stuck. It helps where words alone can’t reach.
